This is from a photo of the Winter Park Crew boy’s team on spring break one year. The sculler in front is Jonathan Rich, a national champion, and the shark launch is what Dan Bertossa piloted for years (I didn’t randomly or symbolically paint it with jaws!)
I fell in love with this image, not only for the beautiful atmosphere of the scene – but because of the respect, discipline and high performance of all on this team and the regard they have for each other. I got to see it first hand one year when I volunteered, and it’s special.
